As a retired parish pastor in the Armenian Church [Eastern Diocese] for 45 years, Father Garabed is also an Art Historian who has specialized in Armenian painted Iconography and Architecture. He received his MA in Art History from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and is himself a painter of Icons and an Illumination artist. He studied graphic arts in Boston. He was born in Salem Massachusetts and now lives in West Bloomfield Michigan.His Master's Dissertations for his MA in Eastern Orthodox Theology was, "Religious Art in the Armenian Church", and his MA in Art History was THE FRESCOES IN THE HONENTS' CHURCH OF SAINT GREGORY THE ILLUMINATOR AT ANI: THE GEORGIAN CHALCEDONIAN INFLUENCE ON THE ARMENIANS OF THIS ROYAL CAPITAL. He presently delivers lectures about The Sacred Arts of the Armenian Church and teaching painting for children and adults in the Art of identity workshops on Armenian Illumination Letters.
